Kenyan Ndungu won the Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon in his debut

Japan-based Samuel Ndungu, 23, of Kenya won the 67th Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon, Japan this morning in 2:07:04 in his debut while Ryo Yamamoto completed a 4th placing and was the first to finish among the locals in a personal best of 2:08:44 which may earn him a slot in the Japanese Olympic marathon team.

Favourites Nicholas Manza of Kenya and Bekana Daba of Ethiopia DNF.
