Happy IAAF Centenary 17 July 1912 - 17 July 2012

The IAAF turns 100 years old today, a very significant birthday which falls ten days before the London 2012 Olympics, two days after the closing of the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona and three days before the final Olympic rehearsal at Herculis Diamond League at Monaco, the headquarters of IAAF since 1993.

The IAAF was founded on 17 July 1912, two days after the closing of the 1912 Stockholm Summer Olympics, Sweden by representatives from 17 national athletics federations at its first congress in Stockholm  as International Amateur Athletics Federation.

The name of IAAF was changed to International Association of Athletics Federations during its 2001 congress.
