19.66 - Bolt wins Worlds Moscow 200m gold for another "double-double"

Usain Bolt (JAM), 27, aka ‘Lightning Bolt’, world’s fastest man ever, 6-time Olympic champion including London 2012 sprint double, added his 7th world title when he won Worlds Moscow 200m final in 19.66 (WL) tonight, in addition to his 100m gold last Sunday, hence repeating the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2009 Worlds Berlin ‘double-double’ of holding both the 100m and 200m Olympic and World titles.

Mo Farah is the First British 10,000m World champion - World Moscow 2013 Day 1 track final #1

Reigning 5000m and 10,000m Olympic champion and 5000m World champion, Mo Farah (GBR) took sweet revenge by reversing  the 1-2 outcome over the 2011 Daegu episode in beating defending champion Ibrahim Jeilan of Ethiopia into 2nd place in the 1st track final in 10,000m on Day 1 of the Worlds Moscow 2013 today and making him the 1st British man to win the world title over this distance. Paul Tanui of Kenya took the bronze.

Kenya win the first World Championships 2013 Moscow Gold medal in women marathon

Kenya captured the first Gold medal of the 14th IAAF World Championships 2013 Moscow  on the opening day today 10 August when Edna  Kiplagat successfully defended her marathon World champion title in 2:25:44 and  making history as the first female marathon runner to retain the world title following the footstep of her male compatriot Abel Kirui who won 2 marathon world titles consecutively in 2009 Berlin (in championships record) and 2011 Daegu (Kirui withdrew to defend the title 2nd time this time due to injury.)
Valeria Straneo of Italy won the silver in 2:25:58 while Kayoko Fukushi of Japan took the bronze in 2:27:45 under sunny sky and hot temperatures close to 30 C

Preview of men's 10,000m - First track final at Worlds Moscow 2013



The Men's 10,000m will be the first track final event on the opening day Saturday 10 August of the 14th IAAF World Championships Moscow 2013  which will be held at 6:55pm at the Luzhniki  Stadium.

Ethiopian/Kenyan showdown for the marathon World champions' titles at Moscow on 10 and 17 August 2013



The opening of the 14th IAAF World Championships Moscow 2013 coming Saturday 10 August will decide the first gold medallist and new World champion when the first final of the 9-day meet, the women marathon, starts at 2:00pm local time at the Luzhniki Stadium while the men's event will kick-off at 3:30pm on the 17 Aug, on the eve of closing day of the biennial competitions.



The 42.195km course consists of a 600m track-run starting at the 100m start area of the Luzhniki Stadium, followed by a short loop and 3x10km loops with turning point at The Red Square along the banks of the Moscow River and it finishes after 300m inside the stadium.

The marathon event of the World Championships  is a World Marathon Majors race, among others, Boston, New York, Chicago, Berlin, London, Tokyo and the Olympic marathons 

The previous IAAF World Championships was held in Daegu, South Korea in 2011 while Beijing will host the next edition in 2015 August 22/30
