Last chance for Haile to make a 4th Olympic appearance when he runs in Hengelo over 10,000m Sunday

10km - 27:39 (WL) Haile Gebrselassie (ETH) Mancheter 20 May

Haile Gebrselassie, 39, of Ethiopia, regarded by many as the world's greatest distance runner, is taking his last opportunity to seek a ticket to his 4th Olympic apearance in London when he starts at the 10,000m track mark at the 30th Fanny Blankers-Koen Games in Hengelo, Holland this Sunday 27 May in a field of strong contenders.

Halie had won 2 Olympic gold medals over 10,000m in 1996 (Atlanta) and 2000 (Sydney) and he ran his PB of 26:22.75 right here in Hengelo in 1998.

He is feeling confident coming back to this sentimental city where he had set 4 world records and he had just won the Bupa Great Manchester Run of 10km on the road in a world leading time of 27:39 last Sunday.
