2:07:32 (WL) (CR) (PB) - Negari of Ethiopia wins Xiamen Marathon in records



The first stop of the world's popular international marathons in the 2013 calendar took off in Xiamen, the scenic coastal town of south eastern China this Saturday morning when Getachew Terfa Negari of Ethiopia, two-time runner up in 2009 and 2010 and making his 5th appearance here this morning, made a brilliant breakthrough by claiming the men's title in a new course record and personal best time of 2:07:32.
By breaking the old course record of 2:07:37 set last year by Peter Kamais of Kenya, who finished 5th in 2:09:53,  Negari won the USD10,000 Special Awards of Achievement in addition to the USD40,000 winner's prize money, the highest in China.

Fatuma Sado Derg, also from Ethiopia, won the women's title in 2:27:35 and USD40,000

The Xiamen International Marathon is an IAAF Gold Label Road Race and its course is regarded as one of the most beautiful courses in the world.
The 11th edition of this race saw a record total number of 73,893 participants from 45 countries competing in various races including 20,549 in full marathon, 19,299 in half marathon and 14,896 in 10km
