Geoffrey Mutai and Mary Keitany named AIMS World Athletes of the Year






Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya, 31, who ran the fastest marathon ever in 2:03:02 at the 2011 Boston Marathon and his female compatriot Mary Keitany, 30, who set the world Half Marathon record of 1:05:50 at the 2011 RAK Half Marathon were named AIMS World Athletes of the Year at Ras Al Khaimah of the United Arab Emirates yesterday in conjunction with the The 6th edition of RAK Half Marathon which is underway today.

2011 was a remarkable year for the Kenyans, Geoffrey Mutai also won the New York City Marathon in a new course record of 2:05:05 while Mary Keitany won the London Marathon in 2:19:19 making her the 5th fastest female marathoner in history.
