Ranking of finishers at 2013 World Marathon Majors races
With the completion of the ING New York City Marathon, the last stop of the World Marathon Majors (WMM) series last Sunday, lets take a glance at the ranking of the number of finishers among the 6 main WMM races in the 2013 season :
Largest 2013 WMM races (finishers)
1) New York 03 Nov -- 50,304/50,740 [99.1%] (Largest ever, beating its previous all time largest 46.759 in 2011)
2) Chicago 13 Oct ---- 39,122/45,000 [86.9%]
3) Berlin 29 Sept ----- 36,544/41,120 [88.9%]
4) Tokyo 24 Feb ------ 35,252/36,676 [96.1%]
5) London 21 Apr ---- 34,278/36,000 [95.2%]
6) Boston 15 Apr ----- 17,580/27,000 (bombings at Finish line)
NB
Only 96 runners crossed the finish line at the biennial IAAF World Championships Moscow 2013 marathon men (50) and women (46) events last August which are also WMM races.
[Paris Marathon which is not a WMM race, on the other hand, saw a remarkable 38,690 finishers out of 40,108 on 7 April this year]
